This historic inn was originally constructed as a home for Oliver and Harmony Wight in 1789 by one of our ancestors, Samuel Stetson, a builder whose grave is in Sturbridge's North Cemetery. In the 1860s the house became the childhood home of our great grandmother, Mary Ella Hooker. Mary's father, Henry Clay Hooker, died during the Civil War, and her mother, Caroline (Putney) Hooker soon married Sturbridge resident George Wight.
